We provide information, referral and support services to South Asian caregivers in
Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu languages. Services can be accessed in person or by
telephone. Caregivers can meet the worker one to one in the office or at home (home
visits) or in a group setting. Support groups offer support and information to caregivers
of frail, elderly or ill family or friends. In addition, support groups offer caregivers a
chance to connect with others in similar circumstances for relaxation and recreation.
Refreshments, video presentations and leisure activities are included.
Videos and books pertaining to care giving are available to caregivers. Educational
series for caregivers in English cover topics such as role and lifestyle changes, selfcare
(how to deal with stress, guilt, anger and isolation), legal and financial
considerations, connecting with health care and community services, communication
and problem solving skills. Some educational workshops/guest speakers may be
available in Punjabi/Hindi as per requirements. Call for schedule.
All the group activities are held at Surrey Delta Immigrant Services Society, #1107,

The Adult Day Programs are designed to assist individuals who need some support to remain independent in the community. The programs offer a wide range of therapeutic recreational activities as well as a hot lunch, transportation by HandyDART(within area) and access to professional support such as nursing and podiatry care. The programs are open to all individuals who qualify under the Home Health regulations or on a private-pay basis.

A Seniors' Counsellor is a volunteer who can provide information about availableservices and benefits and can help you to apply for these entitlements.
Seniors' Counsellor Joyce Schmalz is also a commissioner (appointed by the BC
Ministry of the Attorney General) for the taking of oaths, statutory declarations and
affidavits.
