Friendly Visitors
Friendly Visitors must keep proper records of the number and total hours of visitations to their client on a monthly basis. If the volunteer is making telephone calls in addition to visiting, the time spent on the telephone should also be recorded. After the initial introduction to a client, the Friendly Visitor is responsible for initiating ongoing weekly visitations.
Meal Programs Volunteer
Volunteers with Food Safe Certificate:
• Assist the cook with meal preparation
• All listed duties below for volunteers without Food Safe Certificate
Volunteers without Food Safe Certificate:
• Practise and be vigilant with hygiene procedures (washing hands)
• Assist with decorations
• Assist partcipants to the tables
• Assist clients in delivering prepared/plated food to table
• Assist with setup & cleanup – setting, clearing and cleaning tables; dishes/floor cleanup
• Assist with food preparation under the direction of the cook who is certified in Food Safe (handling procedures)
Seniors Services Connector
A Seniors Services Connector’s main purpose is to help seniors obtain assistance from relevant and helpful government programs, community services and agencies, so they may fully participate in society.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
•Offer connecting services once a week for 3-4 hours for a minimum of 1 year.
•Maintain records of statistics and volunteer hours
•Attend monthly Seniors Services Connectors meetings
•Attend educational classes and workshops as appropriate
•Ensure the information being released is accurate and up to date
•Notify the designated person if unable to replace self on a shift
Time Commitment:
•Training: one 3-hour session per week for 10 weeks and assignments
•Following the training, one 3-hour mentoring session per week as needed
•Upon graduation: one 3- to 4-hour weekly connecting session at a designated location
Telephone Tree Volunteers
Telephone Tree Volunteers require telephone etiquette and be comfortable spending considerable time on the phone with seniors. They must be able to keep accurate records of the number of calls, client notes, changes, etc., and the total hours of time donated on a monthly basis.
Volunteer Coordinators
Volunteer Coordinators are to develop, monitor, educate and support a strong volunteer contingent directly enhancing the programs and unique individual needs of the clients being served through the Come Share Society’s programs.
